Why subscribe?

Public policy and public affairs can be dry, complex, and downright boring. It's harder to sell policy to the public than, say, a pair of Nikes or iPhones.

But, as with anything, story is queen and king.

A narrative approach, done well, is more likely to capture people’s attention, bring them along on the persuasion journey, and potentially be more trusted in an era of deep skepticism.

Story-based messaging is where AI can be helpful and creative as one of many tools in strategic communications. I’ve built and am training the Well Said AI tool (beta) on real-world advocacy experience and best practices for political communications.

The tool is for leaders who don’t need a pricey firm but who do need guidance on or a sounding board for advocacy communications. Ideal for nonprofits, university leaders, public health officials, scientists, civic entrepreneurs, campaigns.

The why

Why AI? Because it speaks in plain language and with the right prompts can "story-fy" the weeds of public policy. And can do so quickly and cheaply.

Comms strategists and political pros must still be involved and test AI's creative suggestions—which is why I offer live sessions to discuss your specific needs and pressure test the AI outputs.

About me

  • 18 years of strategic communications experience. Focus has been on issue advocacy for opinion leaders. Worked on or led 10 advocacy campaigns at the national, state, and local levels.

  • M.A. in American Government from Johns Hopkins University

  • Adjunct professor in government and politics in 2023 and again in 2025

  • I live in Austin— so I’m not burdened by constraints, groupthink, and the tin ear that sometimes comes with working in D.C. or on the coasts.
